Nepal Gen Z Protest 2025- Nepal की राजधानी Kathmandu में social media ban के विरोध में हुए Gen Z protests में पुलिस की गोलीबारी से कम से कम 17 लोगों की मौत हो गई है और 145 लोग घायल हुए हैं। यह हिंसक प्रदर्शन सोमवार 8 सितंबर 2025 को Parliament के बाहर तब भड़का जब प्रदर्शनकारियों ने Parliament building की तरफ march करते हुए पुलिस के साथ झड़प की।

Registration Requirements क्या थीं?
Social Media sites को Nepal में एक office खोलना था और देश में एक contact person रखना था जो local rules के compliance को ensure करता। यह Directive for regulation of Social Media Use, 2080 के तहत आवश्यक था। इन platforms को 28 अगस्त से शुरू होकर सात दिन की deadline दी गई थी registration के लिए।

September 8, 2025 – खूनी सोमवार–
- सुबह ‘Hami Nepal’ group द्वारा Maitighar में rally का आयोजन-
- दोपहर 12:30 बजे Parliament premises में protesters का प्रवेश, बैरिकेड्स तोड़कर New Baneshwor में घुसे-
- दोपहर बाद: Police ने live ammunition, tear gas, और water cannons का प्रयोग किया-
- शाम: Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rijal द्वारा 12:30pm से 10pm तक curfew की घोषणा
Casualties का भयावह आंकड़ा:-

Shoot-at-Sight Orders
Kathmandu District Administration ने Parliament के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में prohibitory orders जारी किए, जिसमें movement, gatherings, और demonstrations पर 12:30 pm से 10 pm तक प्रतिबंध लगा दिया गया। बाद में यह restriction President और Vice President के residence के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में भी लागू कर दिया गया।
Nepal Social Media Ban का Economic Impact
Social media Nepal में internet use का काफी प्रतिशत का हिस्सा है, मुख्यतः Facebook और YouTube पर। Telecom companies ने heavy revenue losses की चेतावनी दी है। यह ban particularly Gen Z को प्रभावित कर रहा है जो इन platforms पर अपनी livelihood depend करते हैं। जो अभी तक काम नहीं कर रहा है
केवल दो Platforms ने की Registration
26 banned social media sites में से केवल Hamro Patro और X ने registration के लिए respond किया है। बाकी major platforms अभी भी compliance नहीं कर रहे हैं। क्यूंकि ये protest अपने चरम पर अभी तक बरकरार है
Celebrity Support और Public ReactionYouths के इस street protest को actors और singers का support मिल रहा है, जो good governance की demand कर रहे हैं। यह protest corruption के खिलाफ भी है, न केवल social media ban के विरोध में।
International pressure
Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) ने चेतावनी दी है कि Nepal सरकार का यह decision journalists के काम में seriously hinder करेगा और लोगों की news और information तक access को प्रभावित करेगा। Government की Defense और Opposition की Criticismसरकार का कहना है कि यह Supreme Court के directive के compliance में किया गया है।
Supreme Court of Nepal ने एक contempt case के दौरान government को order दिया था कि कोई भी social media platform Nepal में formal registration के बिना operate नहीं कर सकता। लेकिन CPN के chief whip Hit Raj Pandey ने Parliament के बाहर reporters से कहा कि government ने registration के लिए workable environment prepare करने में fail किया है और freedom of expression को curb कर रहा है।
Home Minister Resignation
हालांकि कुछ sources में Home Minister के resignation की बात कही जा रही है, लेकिन अभी तक इसकी official confirmation नहीं आई है। Violence की इस घटना के बाद political pressure बढ़ रहा है। जिससे काफी अफरातफरी मची है जो सही नहीं है एक अफवाह फैलाया जा रहा है
Digital Rights
